At Avani, each child’s story carries a message of courage. Shreya’s journey is one of resilience, education, and hope for a brighter future.
Avani believes in equality, justice, and the desire to break the cycles of poverty and exploitation. Avani helps children, women, and communities who face social and financial challenges to rebuild their lives with dignity and stability. We provide a solid foundation for children in need, promoting protection, health, and education. We individualize every child’s needs, ensuring their voices are heard.
Shreya was just six years old when her world turned upside down. Her mother, who had been her biggest comfort, passed away after a brief illness. Her father, a daily wage laborer, struggled to cope with the loss while also trying to provide for his daughter.
As the days turned into months, the financial burden became too heavy to bear. With a heavy heart, and only Shreya’s well-being in mind, her father approached the authorities for help. It was then that Shreya was placed in Avani Children’s Home under the category of “Need of Care and Protection.”
At first, Shreya felt abandoned and confused. She missed her home, her father, and most of all her mother. But the staff at the Children’s Home slowly became her new family. They nurtured her, provided emotional support, and focused on her all-round development.
She was enrolled in a nearby school, where she received regular academic support. The Children’s Home also introduced her to extracurricular activities—arts, dance, and computer training. Slowly, Shreya began to find her voice again. With every passing year, she grew stronger, more confident, and more determined to make something of herself.
By the time she reached 10th grade, she had transformed from a shy, grieving child into a bright and focused student. Her hard work paid off—she scored an impressive 86% in her board exams. It was a proud moment not only for Shreya but also for everyone at the Avani Children’s Home who had supported her journey.
Today, Shreya is studying in 11th grade in a well-reputed college. She dreams of becoming a lawyer to fight for justice, protect the rights of the vulnerable, and ensure that no child is ever left without a voice.
Her story is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest times, with the right support and determination, one can rise and build a brighter future.
We are grateful to Shreya’s sponsor for making her journey possible.
